WHO WE ARE
TWMC (Taiwan Math/Science Circle) is a non-profit organization created and supported by the leaders of the Berkeley Math Circle that gathered many Taiwanese students to bond and explore the realms of the mathematical world. The TWMC Student Association was started in 2018, due to the common interest of the Taiwanese students who are part of TWMC, to serve the purpose of connecting students and creating a welcoming environment for curious learners. Recently, the spread of COVID-19 disturbed many families, causing them to lose money and each other. We have noticed the needs of the people around us and felt that there must be something that we can do. Hence, we gathered many supports from organizations, foundations, and enterprises, to start our charity project.
WHAT WE DO
We noticed the damage COVID-19 deals on the elders and the children, so we will begin events where we visit and care for the residents of nursing homes and orphanages. We want them to know that there are people who care for them and want to reach out to them. Our current plan is to help and support those in our communities, and ensure that there is a on-going system that they can rely on. In the future, we hope to branch out into the whole nation and support the disadvantaged. Although there is a limit to what us as students will be able to achieve, we want to start by doing what we can, by using the talents of each of us. We will be hosting fundraising music performances, auctioning self-made artwork, giving company to the old, tutoring the young, etc. We will give this our all and also connect with and invite companies to join us and spread the love. However, not only will we help the people, we also plan to work on preserving the aboriginal culture, because it's part of our history and our identity.

The reason I've joined TWMC is because that my mom's friend told me that if I went to TWMC, l can have a better score and my math will be good. In the past my math is bad but now l can have a better score. l am happy that l am in TWMC and l hope l can help more people, so I joined the TWMC student council. I will use the knowledge I've gained at TWMC and apply them to help those who need help.

"We are a team!" as Mrs.Julia always said, instead of being jealous of other's abilities, we gain knowledges and skills from them, and they'll not be stingy to teach us, that's why I feel safe and warm in this big family. Since the day I join TWMC, I know that learning math isn't my only target, the most important thing is to learn to help those people who need help. And we got a chance to do it now, although the responsibility will become much more heavier then usual, but I believe that we'll do our best to make the future better.

According to United Nations reported, there is more than 800 million people who are in state of hunger. As a member in the global village, I am not short of food or daily necessities. That's why I want to join this organization to help others who are in need. Although a person's power is tiny, I believe with TWMC our actions can be seen and can raise the awareness of the public. It's always says that "To help others is to help ourselves." I will keep this in mind and to do my best to help the society.

"When people are serving, life is no longer meaninglessness." by John Gardner. I do not lack any necessities or comfort in my life, but some people do not even have food on their table. I will do what I can to help those in need. There are many people in this world who need assistance. I will do my best to help others. I would like to expand my capabilities and knowledge through volunteer work with your organization, so I can be of service to others.

從一開始加入TWMC，這裡便一直是個溫暖的家庭。我們會互相幫助、扶持，競賽與合作中一起成長、一起度過很多美好時光。現在我們想要把我們擁有的這些美好，分享給那些可能沒有體驗過的弱勢族群，這會是個很好的機會，藉由學生會這個平台，我們可以給予老人、孤兒及各種需要幫助的人更多歡樂。或許我能給的幫助很渺小，但是如果每個人都能互相幫忙、一起把學生會變得更好，我相信沒多少事情是TWMC做不到的，世界與我們也會越來越好。

大家好，我是TWMC的成員。因為學校的關係接觸到了TWMC。後來知道了有這個學生會組織，並了解這個學生會是在籌劃各種關懷活動。我想要在這些活動當中付出一份心力，以及能夠透過自己微小的力量，能夠讓一些老人，弱勢的群體受到一點點的鼓勵。又剛好有這個機會可以為這個社會付出什麼。雖然只是一點點的用心 而且大家集結起來的力量一定是很大的，所以也不會吝嗇的付出心力。

Ever since I was a child, my mom would always teach me that helping and serving others is the foundation of happiness. These words are deeply engraved in my heart, and I believe that helping others is helping yourself. Doing something for others can increase your confidence and make you feel satisfied. Also, by helping others, you can realize how lucky you are and cherish the things you have. I am motivated to help others because I believe that everyone in this world deserves happiness. I believe that if you are a capable person should help those in need and make everyone happy.
